Humanoid robots are certainly cool, but what about cars that drive themselves? The team of the Center for Automotive Research at Stanford University (CARS) is looking for an Audi TTS robot race off at high speed sending the tight bends, at Pikes Peak without driver. The car that tries to nickname Shelley, a timed race in September.
Other autonomous vehicles have reached the summit, but only at speeds around 25 mph, the team is looking for much faster, and if account is, Shelley has a speed of 130 mph without a driver at the test site, certainly an interesting challenge. The car is on its way by a differential GPS, which is more accurate than standard GPS residence, the location so you can locate the car except for one inch. Apart from the GPS device, Shelley can measure their speed and acceleration by the velocity sensors and accelerometers and gyroscopes get their stock. This will range from electronics and gadgets, which are controlled crammed into the trunk of the vehicle. Will we all have our own car to drive in the city in the future driver? It seems certain, as an attractive idea.
